About us

Semar was established in 1980 as Structural Engineering AS, to provide practical and reliable solutions for the offshore industry. What began as a small consultancy focused on marine operations has grown into a multidisciplinary company supporting clients across oil & gas, offshore wind, and maritime projects.

Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for combining deep technical expertise with a hands-on approach - always grounded in safety, integrity, and collaboration.

With more than four decades of experience, Semar continues to evolve alongside the industries we serve. Our long-term partnerships and proven track record reflect our commitment to quality, adaptability, and delivering value in complex offshore environments.

 OUR PEOPLE

The heart of our business

At Semar, our people are our greatest strength.
Since 1980, we’ve built a team of experienced engineers, project managers, master mariners and specialists who share a passion for solving complex challenges at sea. With deep industry knowledge and a collaborative mindset, we work side by side with our clients to deliver safe, smart, and sustainable solutions.

What sets us apart is not just our technical expertise — but our willingness to get hands-on. Our people combine solid theoretical knowledge with practical experience, and they’re never afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their overalls dirty when the job demands it.

Integrity, openness, and teamwork are the values that guide us — every day, in every project.

Health system and management system

At Semar, HSE is a shared responsibility across all levels of the organization, with both management and line personnel actively involved. Every employee is accountable for HSE within their area of responsibility.

We foster a proactive and positive HSE culture through systematic communication, motivation, and training. Employees are encouraged to engage actively and consistently in HSE-related efforts.

Risk assessments play a key role in our decision-making processes, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into everyday routines, operations, and project work. Whether in design, fabrication, or execution, we maintain a strong focus on our Zero-Accident target—especially in construction, installation, and operational activities.
